Webtrace Terms of Service
Effective date: 7 September 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and RYFFT PRIVATE LIMITED, a company incorporated in India under CIN U14101HR2026PTC143993, which operates Webtrace ("Webtrace", "we", "us"). They govern your use of the Webtrace Chrome extension, the Webtrace Figma plugin, the .wtrace file format tooling, and any related documentation and websites (together, the "Service"). By installing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. The Service
Webtrace lets you capture a web page you are viewing in your own browser into a portable .wtrace file, and rebuild that capture as editable layers in Figma. Chrome capture and local file import run on your device, and captured page content is never sent to Webtrace's account or billing systems. The optional Send to Figma hand-off encrypts your capture on your device; the encrypted file passes through the Webtrace relay, which cannot decrypt it and deletes it within 24 hours (see the Privacy Policy, §7). Optional URL import in the Figma plugin works differently: if you paste a public web address, the Webtrace render service loads that page in an isolated browser on our infrastructure and returns the trace to you. The page address and trace are processed in memory for the request, and the service sees only what an anonymous visitor would see (see the Privacy Policy, §7). A Webtrace account (email plus a one-time sign-in code) links your plan and usage allowance across the Chrome extension and the Figma plugin; signing in is required before your first metered web trace. The account service exchanges only authentication, subscription, installation, and usage-count metadata (see the Privacy Policy).
2. License
Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Service for your own design and development work. Except as expressly permitted by applicable law, you may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, sublicense, or reverse engineer the Service. The .wtrace file format itself is openly documented; nothing in these Terms restricts you from reading or writing .wtrace files with your own software.
3. Acceptable use: your responsibility for what you capture
Webtrace is a tool. You are solely responsible for what you capture and what you do with it. You agree that:
- you will only capture pages that you have the right to capture. This includes content you own, content you are licensed or permitted to use, or content whose capture and use is otherwise lawful in your jurisdiction (for example, for your own analysis, prototyping, or other permitted purposes);
- you will respect the intellectual-property rights, terms of use, and privacy rights attached to the pages you capture, especially when a capture includes other people's personal information, brand assets, or paywalled content;
- you will not use the Service to violate any law, to infringe anyone's rights, or to harass or harm anyone;
- when you use URL import, you will only enter addresses of public pages that you have the right to capture. You will not use it to reach pages behind access controls, to bypass a site's bot protection, rate limits, or terms of use, or to load pages you do not have permission to access. We may decline, rate limit, or block addresses to protect the Service, other users, or third parties, and some sites cannot be traced this way;
- you will not attempt to circumvent usage limits or metering (see the Fair Use Policy), interfere with the Service, or misrepresent the Service as your own product.
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service (including any paid plan, subject to the refund terms below) for material violation of this section.
4. Your content and intellectual property
- You own your captures. Webtrace claims no ownership of, and no license to, the
.wtracefiles you create or the Figma layers the plugin produces. Chrome captures you save or copy, and files you import locally, are not sent to Webtrace. A trace you Send to Figma passes through our relay encrypted with a key we do not hold, and is deleted within 24 hours. Optional URL import processes the public page on our render infrastructure for your request, as described in Section 1 and the Privacy Policy. - Owning the file is not the same as owning the content inside it: rights in the captured web content remain with whoever holds them, and it is your responsibility to use that content lawfully (see Section 3).
- Webtrace retains all rights in the Service itself, including the extension, the plugin, the Webtrace name and branding, and the documentation.
5. Subscriptions, billing, and refunds
- Usage is metered in web traces: capturing a page and importing that capture into Figma together count as one web trace, however many viewports it spans. The Free plan includes 12 web traces per month (measured on a rolling 30-day window). The Free plan is the product trial; there is no separate time-limited trial. Paid plans (per the current price list): Pro at $7/month or $70/year with 500 web traces per rolling 30 days, and Pro Max at $9/month or $90/year with 1,000 web traces per rolling 30 days. Annual plans charge the full annual amount at purchase and renew annually. Subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled. Prices may change; changes will not apply retroactively to an already-paid period.
- An individual subscription may be used on up to about 3 computers (enforced as 6 application installations across Chrome and Figma; Pro Max: 10). You can rename and revoke installations yourself from your account.
- Paid subscriptions are sold and processed by Dodo Payments, our Merchant of Record, which acts as the seller for tax and payment purposes. Payment details, applicable taxes, invoices, refunds, and subscription billing are handled through Dodo Payments, and its checkout terms apply to the transaction. Applicable taxes and the final amount are shown before payment.
- Refunds: as a baseline, first-time purchases are refundable within 14 days of purchase via the merchant of record. Email [email protected] and we will process it. Statutory refund rights in your jurisdiction are not affected.
- Cancellation: sign in at getwebtrace.com/account with the email used for your Webtrace account, then choose Cancel subscription to open Dodo's billing portal. Select your subscription and cancellation at the next billing date. Auto-renewal stops and your plan remains active through the already-paid period. If you instead explicitly choose immediate cancellation in Dodo, paid access ends when that cancellation takes effect. Your existing Figma output and local
.wtracefiles are not deleted. Uninstalling Webtrace or signing out does not cancel a subscription. If you cannot access your account, email [email protected] for help.
6. Third-party platforms
The Service runs on top of Google Chrome, the Chrome Web Store, and Figma. Your use of those platforms is governed by their own terms and policies, which we do not control. If those platforms change in ways that break or limit the Service, that is outside our control (though we will do our best to adapt).
7. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that captures or imports will be pixel-perfect, complete, uninterrupted, or error-free, or that the Service will work with every web page or every version of Chrome or Figma. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty disclaimers, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
8. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WEBTRACE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR BUSINESS, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE. TO THE SAME EXTENT, OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE IS CAPPED AT THE GREATER OF (a) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM AND (b) US $50. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
9. Indemnity
You will indemnify and hold Webtrace harmless from third-party claims arising out of your captures or your breach of Section 3 (Acceptable use), including reasonable legal fees, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling it. We may terminate or suspend the Service or your license for material breach of these Terms. Sections 4, 7, 8, 9, and 11 survive termination. Your local .wtrace files and Figma documents are yours and are unaffected by termination.
11. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the competent courts in India will have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. Nothing in this section removes any protection or right of action that consumer-protection law in your country of residence gives you and that cannot be waived by agreement; if you are a consumer in the EU, the UK, or another jurisdiction with mandatory consumer rules, you keep those rights and may be able to bring proceedings locally.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms, for example when new features (accounts, cloud services) launch. We will post the updated Terms at https://getwebtrace.com and update the effective date; material changes will be announced in the product or by email where possible. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
